Typograph and Birdfont

BirdfontFrom their website

Birdfont is a free font editor for Mac, Windows and Linux. You draw letters, import SVG files or trace images.

It exports OTF, TTF, variable and colour fonts.

TypographStart from letters, not from nothing

Typograph works the other way round from a classic font editor. You start from a template, or describe the typeface you want, and then tune the letterforms.

It is trained on 50,000 hand drawn glyphs, supports 66 languages and runs in the browser. You own full rights to the fonts you make.

Time for a family of 10 weights is our own estimate for an experienced designer making a Latin typeface with spacing and kerning, not a figure from the makers. Real projects vary.

Which to pick
Both are good at different things

Pick Birdfont if you want a free editor and like building a font glyph by glyph.

Pick Typograph if you would rather tune a whole typeface than build it letter by letter. Try Typograph.
